Char Dham Yatra

The four sacred Himalayan shrines: Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. Pilgrimage season May-October (high Himalayas close in winter). Kedarnath requires the most physical effort — 16 km trek or helicopter. Book accommodation and helicopter tickets months ahead.

Varanasi — The Eternal City

The most intensely spiritual city in India. Dawn boat on the Ganga. Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat. The 87 ghats and their daily life of devotion and ritual. The Kashi Vishwanath Temple rebuilt and expanded 2021.

Rishikesh and Haridwar

Rishikesh: The yoga capital of the world. Ashrams, yoga teacher training, and the Ganga in its mountain-fresh purity. Haridwar: Gateway to the Char Dham. Har Ki Pauri ghat's evening Ganga Aarti is one of India's most beautiful sights. Kumbh Mela is held at Haridwar every 12 years.
