Most "bucket-list" countries make you fight for a visa. The Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) โ a string of 600+ islands across the western Pacific โ does the opposite: it welcomes travellers of virtually every nationality visa-free, right on arrival. For anyone tired of visa paperwork, it may be the single easiest stamp on Earth.
The rule, in plain English
- Every nationality: entry permit granted on arrival โ up to 30 days, extendable in-country to 90 days.
- Schengen-area citizens: up to 90 days within a 180-day period.
- What you need: a passport valid at least 120 days beyond entry, plus an onward/return ticket (proof of funds may be requested).
What's actually there
Four states โ Yap, Chuuk, Pohnpei and Kosrae. Think WWII wreck-diving in Chuuk Lagoon (one of the best dive sites on the planet), the stone-money culture of Yap, the ancient ruined city of Nan Madol off Pohnpei, and reef-fringed jungle islands with barely another tourist in sight. It is the definition of off the beaten track.
The catch (so you plan it right)
- Getting there is the real "visa" โ flights route via Guam, Honolulu, or Manila and need careful sequencing.
- Inter-island hops are limited; itineraries must be built around the flight schedule.
- It's remote โ accommodation and logistics reward planning, not improvising.
That's where we come in. OTATTS designs off-the-beaten-track trips โ and handles the routing, stays and on-the-ground logistics so an "impossible" destination becomes a real itinerary.
