Leh Ladakh Tour Guide 2026 — Road Trip, Monasteries & High Passes
Complete guide to Leh-Ladakh. Best time to visit, how to get there, acclimatisation, monasteries, Pangong Lake and more.
When to Visit Ladakh
June-September is the primary window — roads are open and weather is clear. July-August peaks. Manali-Leh highway: open June-October. Srinagar-Leh: longer open season. Winter Spiti (December-February) is a specialist experience for the adventurous.
Acclimatisation Is Non-Negotiable
Leh sits at 3,524 metres. Arrive, rest for 48 hours, no trekking or exertion. Drink water constantly. Mild headache is normal — vomiting, disorientation or breathing difficulty requires descent immediately.
Essential Experiences
Pangong Tso Lake (4,225m) — the extraordinary blue lake of three nations. Nubra Valley via Khardung La pass. Hemis Monastery — the richest monastery in Ladakh. Magnetic Hill. Zanskar Valley for serious trekkers.
